2021 AMA Supercross & Motocross Wrap Up
There truly has not been a more competitive AMA Supercross and AMA Motocross season for as long as we can remember. Each championship both 450cc and 250cc came down to the wire. Past 450 SX Champion Cooper Webb, did it again and wrapped up yet another 450 Premier class Supercross title along with first time SX 250 champions, Colt Nichols and Justin Cooper.

Rockstar Energy Husqvarna’s RJ Hampshire has been struggling for over a month with an illness, but he keeps testing negative for COVID-19, so he keeps on racing. Despite the struggles he’s still able to put in decent motos. He shadowed race leader Justin Cooper for much of moto one at the Hangtown Motocross Classic before dropping off late to save energy. He managed another overall podium at the end of the day. He spoke about it all in the post-race press conference.

Honda HRC’ s Jett Lawrence entered the final round of the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship with a 23-point gap over Monster Energy/Star Yamaha Racing’s Justin Cooper. Lawrence had the opportunity to wrap up the title by the end of the first moto as long as he finished ahead of Cooper. Well, when the gate dropped, Lawrence made the finale a little more exciting than he would have liked.

We’re starting to see who will be where in the pit area next year. On Wednesday, MotoConcepts Racing announced that Justin Brayton will return to the team for his 20th and final season as a professional competitor in the Monster Energy Supercross Series.
RACER X | Jeremny Martin Talks Budds Creek
Two-time 250 class Pro Motocross champion Jeremy Martin has himself in an odd situation. He has now won three of the last four rounds, has more wins than anyone else in the class, and is not in the title fight. After an early injury sidelined him for a round and hampered his speed upon return, Martin sits a distant 60 points off the lead with now three rounds to go.

A week ago, Justin Cooper took over the points lead at Millville, but his 3-2 scores didn’t leave him happy. His teammate Jeremy Martin tracked him down for a moto win, and Michael Mosiman zapped him in moto two, also. All year, Cooper has said his goal was to do more than just be the consistent podium rider he’s been through the years.
