RACER X | Justin Cooper on 2021 Washougal
A week ago, Justin Cooper took over the points lead at Millville, but his 3-2 scores didn’t leave him happy. All year, Cooper has said his goal was to do more than just be the consistent podium rider he’s been through the years.
RACER X | Chase Sexton talks Winning Washougal
Honda HRC’s Chase Sexton broke through for his first win of 2021 by carrying 1-3 scores for the overall at Washougal, which hosted round seven of the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship. Sexton grabbed a rare holeshot in the first moto and held steady from there. In the second moto, he ran second behind Dylan Ferrandis until Eli Tomac overhauled him late in the race. The third was enough to edge Tomac’s 2-2 for the overall.
RACER X | FLYING FERRANDIS
The racing is still amazing in the 450 class of the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship, but Dylan Ferrandis continues to emerge from these battles with the wins. He’s now taken three overalls in four races this year and has stretched his points lead to 13 over Ken Roczen. The Monster Energy/Star Racing Yamaha rider is showing a ton of heart coming on strong late in the races. He went 1-2 at RedBud to secure the overall win—only the immovable object that is Eli Tomac prevented Ferrandis from turning another late-race surge into a moto win. The Frenchman talked with the media after the race.
